FAA together with the 𝗦𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗺𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 are organizing this protest walk to show how pedestrians have been put aside, with pavements completely taken over by businesses. This is not just about Gżira and Sliema, but about the rights of all Malta’s residents to walk on unobstructed pavements and enjoy promenades in places like M’scala, Marsaxlokk, Gżira, Sliema, St. Julian’s, Buġibba, Mellieħa, Victoria, Marsalforn and Xlendi. The current state of these congested pavements make it particularly impossible for those with wheelchairs, strollers and pushchairs to access. The public is encouraged to join in this activity and stand up for their right - and the children’s - of safety and access to public spaces.#faa #faamalta #gzira #sliema #protestwalk #protest #gziramalta #sliemamalta #gżira #gżiramalta

Photo showing Sliema in July 2022.On 14 May 2024 FAA will be holding a talk on activism by Prof Kevin Aquilina at 6.30pm at St Patrick’s Church, Sliema. Prof Aquilina lectures at the Faculty of Laws of the University of Malta. He is also the author of ‘Development Planning Legislation: The Maltese Experience’, and ‘The Rule of Law, À La Maltaise’, where he criticized institutional failure as a contributing factor to the inadequacies of the rule of law.In this talk, ‘Action, not Words’ Prof Aquilina will give practical approaches on how citizens can make Malta’s politicians and authorities listen to their demands. Given that institutions in Malta are unable to protect its citizens and their quality of life, FAA encourages those citizens to make their voices heard.NGOs and local action groups are invited to this talk, which is followed by discussion, Q&A. Please confirm attendance on: contact@faa.org.mt and disseminate to other contacts.#faa #faamalta #actionnotwords #activism #ruleoflaw #planninglegislation #maltalegislation #ruleoflawmalta #maltalaw
