Townsquare Permit Revoked – A win for the people

By May 3, 2018August 12th, 2022No Comments

On Wednesday the 3rd May 2018, the Townsquare application was revoked by the Planning Authority Tribunal thanks to the ongoing relentless efforts of FAA Flimkien Ghal Ambjent Ahjar, Din l-Art Helwa, Ramblers Malta, Friends of the Earth Malta and Tas-Sliema Local Council who appealed the original approval of this application back in August 2016, and have been working relentlessly on it since.

The Tribunal’s decision confirms the eNGOs’ and Council’s claims that the studies were inadequate or missing, the development beyond that which could be considered and that effectively the Planning Authority should not have approved the application back in August 2016.

FAA wishes to thank all its members and those members of the public who believed in its efforts and supported this appeal. FAA will continue to advocate and work for the protection of our environment be it urban or rural areas and keep doing its utmost to ensure the letter of the law is observed and all applications truly processed within a fair and level playing field.
