Flimkien għal Ambjent Aħjar (FAA) is a NGO committed to preserving Malta's heritage & quality of life
Wied Għollieqa is located between Kappara and the University of Malta at Msida, Malta. Wied Għollieqa is a good example of a restored habitat with optimal natural site management. Since 1990, the site managers, Nature Trust ( @nature.trust.malta @ntmfee ) have converted a number of abandoned fields into typical local habitats. Additionally, a number of diverse zones were established, including four types of woodland (Cypress, Aleppo Pine, Sandarac Gum Tree, Holm Oak/Aleppo Pine), a riparian habitat (that has a temporary![]()
watercourse) a pond, and a maquis area. Thanks to these actions, the public can enjoy ![]()
indigenous trees and shrubs (including the national tree, the Għargħar tree) and traditional rubble walls.![]()

The Courts have just ruled that the Planning Authority and the Appeals tribunal both ignored planning laws and policies in granting and confirming a permit to add 6 storeys to the landmark Ramel Building on Tower Rd c/w Isouard Str, Sliema. This shows that civil society CAN win over a corrupt system backed by some architects who delight in destroying heritage! One of the reasons that FAA set up in 2006 was to save the Art Deco (Lombard) building from demolition, as no one else was interested in saving it. 18 years later, we're still at it.
