Marsalforn in February 2024. Tomorrow Sunday 21st April at 16:00, FAA will join MALTA-ARCH for a nature walk with ethnobotanist Timothy J. Tabone, who will share his expertise on the important and threatened biodiversity in the valley-bed habitat along the scenic Victoria-Marsalforn Road. Participants will learn how majestic trees such as the Ash and White Poplar, as well as large swathes of highly fertile arable land, risk obliteration by the proposed non-essential and dangerous motorway project. Rare species such as the Moorhen Water-Bird or Maltese Swallowtail Butterflies, may also be glimpsed. After the walk, a meeting will be held at Marsalforn to discuss ideas to save Gozo’s beauty before it is too late. Supporters who don’t attend the walk may still join the discussion at Smugglers’ Cave (around 18:00). No fee is involved.Event Details:Meet-Up: Sun 21st April, 16:00 at Capuchin Friary, Triq Marsalforn, Victoria.Walk: Triq Marsalforn and Wied tal-Grazzja (approx. 3 km)Endpoint around 18:00: Smugglers’ Cave restaurant, Marsalforn, to discuss potential future action.Attendees are advised to bring along water, sunscreen, sun hat, and comfortable walking shoes. Accompanying dogs are not accepted due to the risk of disturbing the water-birds.Additionally, anyone can support the cause against overdevelopment in Gozo by signing and sharing this petition: www.change.org/p/robert-abela-protect-gozo-from-harmful-development?source_location=psf_petitions
